Chiropractic Care

The Goal Of Chiropractic Care Is To Fix The Root Cause Of Pain That’s Related To Your Spine. Doctors Of Chiropractic Are Specifically Trained To Understand How The Spine And Nervous System Work And What They Need To Function Optimally.

Start with a Chiropractor

There are many types of doctors available to you. As chiropractors, we go after the root cause of pain. We know that “where it hurts” isn’t always “why it hurts”. We examine the full scope of your pain and diagnose you carefully. We use various tools and techniques to eliminate your pain so that it stays gone.

What’s more, we don’t race to the prescription pad. Most prescription medications work on the symptoms of pain instead of the cause. If pain medications are appropriate, we’ll work with your medical doctor.

The Types of Pain We Work on as Chiropractors

Back Pain

Back pain is widespread, whether mild or severe, temporary or chronic. Your back comprises numerous muscles, discs, ligaments, tendons, and bones that all work together. When you experience back pain, it takes understanding how these parts work together to figure out what might be wrong. As chiropractors, we have the experience to find the source of back pain. Some of the more common back pain problems we see include:

  • Disc bulges and herniations—Between each vertebra in your spine is a disc. Discs are soft, almost cushion-like, and help keep nerves from hitting each other. When two vertebrae compress together, the disc between them gets compressed and bulges out. If it bulges enough, it can touch a nearby nerve, causing shooting or stabbing pain.
  • Misaligned spine – also known as “subluxation.” Many causes can put your spine out of alignment – physical stress, an accident, or trauma.
  • Strains and sprains happen when we try things our bodies aren’t used to doing, from overuse, or when we are in an accident.
  • Stress can build up and lead to back pain. Stress leads to tension, which sometimes gathers in “trigger points” in your back. When enough tension accumulates, pain sets in.

Headaches

We all get headaches once in a while. Problems in your back and neck often cause frequent or chronic headaches. If you are experiencing frequent or chronic headaches, chiropractic is appropriate. Our chiropractors are experienced in examining patients to find the root cause of headache pain.

Neck Pain

Neck pain can limit mobility, give you headaches, and even migrate down to your shoulders and back. There are many causes of neck pain—trauma such as whiplash, your sleeping position, poor posture, repetitive stress, abnormal bone structure, joint issues, muscle strains, and others. Left untreated, the muscles in your neck might start to deteriorate, which makes the problem worse.

While your neck is small compared to most other parts of your body, it has a lot of responsibility—protecting your spinal cord, holding your head up, and allowing your head to move around. The structures in your neck are complex. Our chiropractors have extensive training and experience with the neck, neck pain and how to treat it so that the pain stays away.

Sciatica & Pinched Nerves

If you have pain that starts in your back or buttocks and radiates down your legs, even into your feet, you might have sciatica or a pinched nerve. Left untreated, this may worsen and impact the quality of your daily life. You may feel tingling or numbness in your legs or feet or have difficulty sitting or standing for long periods. Our chiropractors have years of experience diagnosing and treating patients with sciatica and pinched nerves. Some common causes are:

  • When vertebrae compress – when the vertebrae nearest the nerve compress enough, they put pressure on it, which causes the pain.
  • Bulging disc – if the disc between those vertebrae bulges, it can pressure the nerves.
  • Spinal misalignment – poor posture, trauma, and even pregnancy can cause nerve pressure.
  • Bad luck – well, not really. Some patients say they bent over to pick up something and felt the pain. It seems sudden, but the issue was probably developing for a while. The final straw was that one thing you did.

Disc Injuries

If you have neck or back pain, or if pain radiates down your arms or legs, you may have a disc injury. As chiropractors, we are experts in examining and treating neck and back pain. It might be the beginning of something chronic, even if it’s one time. If a disc injury is the cause, it usually doesn’t fix itself. Instead, it tends to get worse over time, and your one-time pain becomes chronic. The sooner we can examine you and find the root cause of your pain, the easier and faster it is to fix it.

  • Bulging disc – when the disc bulges or balloons out.
  • Herniated disc – when the disc ruptures and the gel-like material inside pushes out.
  • Extruded disc – when a herniated disc gets so bad that a piece breaks off.
